Tanzania is a country in East Africa, part of the ‘Greater Horn’ of Africa with more than 47 million people, which means they should have 313 radiation machines to minimally treat their population. Sadly, there are only two old cobalt machines for these 47 million people, meaning that most of the country has no access to cancer care treatment.
RadiatingHope has committed to update the Cancer Center in Dar Es Salaam. In the spring/summer 2015 Radiating Hope, along with the Foundation for Cancer Care in Tanzania, shipped a Varian radiation machine to Dar Es Salaam. This machine, a linear accelerator, will be placed at Ocean Road. Radiating Hope has partnered closely with the Foundation of Cancer Care in Tanzania in order to advance care care and are in the process of one day building a cancer center at the base of Mt Kilimanjaro at the Kilimanjaro Catholic Medical Center.
Each year RadiatingHope does an iconic climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise money and awareness for the Kilimanjaro cancer center; contact us if you would like to join our climbing team.

We are continually looking for more people to join our workforce in Tanzania. Missions have included the annual Greater Horn Oncology Symposium (GHOS) treatments, radiation lectures & hands-on training, commissioning radiation machines & physics planning, etc. Please contact us for more information.
Each year in Tanzania we climb Kilimanjaro in order to create advocacy for the cancer crisis facing Tanzania. In addition to the climb, we organize the Greater Horn Oncology Symposium (GHOS). Speaker from major academic centers all over the United States come to speak at this conference and participate in advancing cancer care in Tanzania. The GHOS symposium takes place at the Kilimanjaro Catholic Medical Center.
In 2016 we shipped the first Linear Accelerator and HDR brachytherapy machine to Western Tanzania. This is the first machines that western Tanzania has ever seen. These machines were place in a cancer center in Mwenza, at the Bugando medical center. These machines will be run by Dr. Nestory Masalu, MD. These machines have the potential to save thousands of lives!! Here is a lecture from Dr. Masalu regarding his vision which started several years ago.

We love Tanzania! Travel and tourism contributed 12.7% of Tanzania's gross domestic product and employ 11.0% of the country's labor force. Tanzania the home to Africa’s largest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro, standing at 19,341 feet. Nothing beats climbing Kilimanjaro!
The vast majority of tourists visit Zanzibar or a "northern circuit" of Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), Tarangire National Park, and Lake Manyara National Park.
